Life Saved on the Operation Table at Ethis Hospital

Ethis Hospital in Kota has achieved a major milestone in advanced stroke treatment by successfully saving a patient’s life using modern mechanical thrombectomy technology. A patient named Bansilal Malav was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state with paralysis on one side of his body. Medical tests confirmed a severe brain stroke caused by a blockage in a major artery (Left MCA M1). Due to the critical condition, he was immediately admitted to the ICU.

Doctors performed a cerebral angiography to locate the blockage and used the ADAPT technique of mechanical thrombectomy to remove the clot. The procedure was highly successful, achieving complete restoration of blood flow (MTICI 3) in the first attempt. Remarkably, the patient began showing signs of recovery while still on the operation table and fully recovered within four days under close monitoring.

According to specialists, this minimally invasive procedure involves inserting a catheter through an artery in the thigh and guiding it to the brain, where the clot is removed using specialized devices. It eliminates the need for major surgery and can be completed quickly.

Hospital officials highlighted that earlier, patients from the Hadoti region had to travel to cities like Jaipur or Delhi for such treatment, often losing critical time. Now, with this facility available in Kota, patients can receive timely care locally. The technique also extends the stroke treatment window, allowing effective intervention up to 24 hours in select cases, significantly improving survival and recovery outcomes.
